Saile’s Santa Dash

We here @ Sáile are inviting families, friends and colleagues to take part in the Sáile Sponsored Santa Dash a fun run/cycle/walk to raise vital funds for a great Claus… starting at the Glen car park on Sunday, 13th December @ 2pm.

The day itself it will be a sight to behold, 100’s of Santa’s Running/Cycling through the streets of Kinsale and it is a great opportunity for families, friends and colleagues to get together and have a lot of fun whilst also raising funds for the local community.

You can register for the event online www.sailesportsandleisure.ie or pop into the Kinsale Sports Store for an entry form. Fee of 15e for adults and 10e for kids applies and includes a Santa Suit on the day, a medal for all entries and a bowl of yummy Blue Haven Seafood Chowder provided by the Blue Haven Collection at Hamlets once the course is completed.

This event is kindly supported by Kinsale Sports Store and Kinsale RFC Sharks, Bicycles will be provided on the day and have been Kindly sponsored by the Blue Haven Transport Company.

Its all about the Boogie….

Due to the phenomenal success of Thriller, the dancing fundraisers are back,  promising another epic evening guaranteed to give you DISCO FEVER.

The Dancing Disco Diva’s will be performing @ Boogie Nights March 26th @ Hamlets & Blue Haven in aid of Sáile – Kinsale Community Sports & Leisure Project….

Sáile is an effort by the people of Kinsale to build a community sports and recreation facility in Kinsale and the first phase of this exciting project is due to open in May and consists of a state of the art all weather pitch facility, a basket ball court, a tennis court and a community orchard. The fabulous & talented Ms Lucy French of the Lucy French School of Dance has once again been teaching the people of Kinsale how to get down and boogie and these dancing disco diva’s will be performing through out the night in both venues!

Both venues will be transformed into a Boogie Wonderland for a retro tribute to everything 70’s… with entertainment for the whole family including Funky Disco DJ @ Hamlets, Kinsale hottest new band “The Insiders” kiddies entertainment, best dressed competition and lots more.

We here @ Sáile are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic someone to join our lovely crew… We do good work, don’t bite and we also have lots of fun! This would be ideal for a sports minded person who has a keen interest in community development!

Job Description: Part Time Facilities assistant manager:   

You will be responsible for assisting in the smooth running of a state of the art all weather facility and your duties involve encouraging people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to use the facilities, and making sure they have a safe and enjoyable experience, overseeing the day-to-day running of the facilities and devising activity programmes, booking queries, new business development,   general duties such as promoting the facility, attracting new members and dealing with complaints. You will work with the local community, liaising with clubs and schools to determine there needs

When on duty you will also be responsible for the maintaining of the dressing room areas, ensuring they are keep in an appropriate condition at the end of day. This will require willingness to clean and wash down surfaces. Responsibilities for the allocation and supply of hooks, nets, flags etc for each booking are also required. 

The role may involve attending meetings and events at weekends and in the evening.  You may also be required to organise volunteers on occasion.

You will ideally have

• Excellent organisational, administrative and planning skills
• Enthusiasm and self-motivation
• A passionate interest in sport.
• Ideally a leisure management qualification. (Not essential but desirable)  
• An interest in promoting sport and fitness.
• An interest in community development
• Be good at decision making
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Fundraising Golf Classic @ the Old Head Golf Links

The Sáile Sports & Leisure Project is holding a Golf Classic Fundraiser at the stunning Old Head Golf Course on April 29th.

The Classic will be a three ball better ball competition and you can book your team(s) of three at a variety of tee times from 11am – 2pm. In addition to prizes galore, you’ll get the chance to play Old Head for the bargain price of €100 per person, lunch included!

KINSALE GOLF CLASSIC

 

SUPPORT THE GIRLS  AND RAISE FUNDS FOR SAILE, AS THEY GO HEAD TO HEAD WITH THE BOYS ON FEB 19TH @ 2PM 

Five local national school students from Kinsale are supporting Sáile by taking part in ‘THE BIG BIG BAZAAR’ RTÉ THE DEN’S brand new series for young people which will travel the country bringing together two teams in each community to compete to raise money for local causes.

The girls go head to head with the boys on Friday 19^th Feb @ 2pm in the Temperance Hall, Kinsale.

The Big Big Bazaar will ask two teams in each community to raid their attics and garages in search of valuables, old toys and games, come up with fun money making schemes such as Face Painting, Cake Baking, Lucky Dips etc. and put it all together for a massive bazaar in their local community.

Each team will also get a chance to put their top five items up for LIVE AUCTION at the end of the bazaar, and in a final twist the team that makes the most money gets to take half of their opponent’s takings for their cause!!!

 BE SURE TO SUPPORT THE GIRLS….

Top experts will be on hand to help value the goods and advise you on how to set up your stalls.

TY Students impress with amazing fashion event

I was honoured to be invited and  to the TY Fashion night @ Kinsale Community School on Dec 7th and hearten by the students decision to share the profits of the night with Sáile. What a treat it was, the school gym had been transformed and for a moment I thought I had been whisked away and had woken up at a fashion show in Paris!! Really this was impressive stuff and all organised by a group of 4th students, I couldn’t help think that Kinsale should be really proud of its youth and that these girls had little to learn from Erin O Connor & Co as they took to the catwalk with such elegance and grace.  

Fashionista’s were treated to a fun show packed with colourful outfits, flamboyant make up, break dancing  and a wealth of musical talent. On the night a selection of Charlotte & Jane 50′s inspired dresses were modelled by stunning students, every girl should own one of these… They are amazing and 100% Irish made! Divine boutique along with Nouvelle also had a fabulous range on the night; Children’s boutique Cooleez added a fresh and funky feel to the kids range on show… 

An unusual appearance from Frosty the Snowman and Santa’s ho ho ho, all dressed by the Mouldy Apple Costume Shop, Cork, brought huge cheers from the students! Stone Mad and Kinsale’s newest boutique Jello modelled a stunning collection of Jewellery and funky outfits while Hattitude – Designer Hats & Accessories based in the Glen, Kinsale stole the show with her collection of handmade head pieces and hats, which are exceptional!

This event was a stunning occasion, and gave a great boost to Sáile’s awareness campaign, and also managed to rise over €4, 000 on the night, half of which was kindly donated to Sáile, Woo hooo… Nice one!
